The Medici family created several secret passages in the main political institution of the Florentine Republic, Palazzo Vecchio (“Old Palace”), in order to move safely inside the building and avoid enemies. The exclusive Secret Passages Tour of Palazzo Vecchio Museum not only gives you full access to its sumptuous chambers like the Hall of the Five Hundreds (“Salone dei Cinquecento”), but also shows you authentic secret passages between rooms and private locations, including the cabinet of curiosities where Francesco I de' Medici kept his rare and precious objects.
